Robert van Geerenstein

Freelance Software Developer

About 27 years ago I started creating my first scripts as a hobby, since 2007 I build awesome web applications for a living.
From little scripts that make my daily life more comfortable, to custom build, high load/high traffic web applications, created with the latest techniques out there.
I love playing around with new techniques and languages, thinking of new sideprojects and keeping up with the developments of the online community.

I am available for freelance work on custom web applications.

Work

This is Development 2016 - now

Back in 2016 I started the company This is Development with a group of tech-minded individuals with a clear statement on how development should be done.

We believe strongly in working closely together with the client on achieving both their and our goals. In our vision, the client is the one with all the knowledge on how their business processes work and what they want to achieve; we have the knowledge on how to make their goals reality.

Global CRM (NDA Protected) 2015 - 2016

For a listed multinational in the chemicals industry, I worked together with a team of professionals developing a custom sales platform from the ground up, taking on the challenge of unifying the various business processes per region into one platform.

Within 5 months after the initial project kick-off, we deployed version 1.0 for their biggest region. Within 2 years, the platform was available in 32 countries, 12 languages and supported a wide range of regional business processes and reporting tools.

Embraceled 2012 - now

Embraceled is spreading a light on social interaction and comes in three variants. Embraceled _green and Embraceled _blue are intelligent LED-bracelets. Points of interest can be loaded onto the Embraceled. The Embraceled makes contact with other nearby Embraceleds.

Embraceled _orange can transform a group of wearers into a living LED screen. By measuring the location of each bracelet and wirelessly controlling the LED colour of every bracelet, movies, light effects or logos can be shown by the crowd.
